A domestic dispute in Changamwe, Mombasa, took a fatal turn, resulting in the death of 25-year-old Diana Yumbya.
According to police reports, Diana was pronounced dead upon arrival at Bomu Hospital after sustaining a fatal stab wound to her chest during the late hours of June 1.
Eyewitnesses and authorities disclosed that the altercation stemmed from a dispute over a solar-powered lamp, triggered by a temporary power outage in the locality.
Allegedly, amidst the argument, Diana’s father resorted to violence, wielding a kitchen knife and fatally stabbing his daughter before fleeing the scene.
Promptly responding to the commotion, concerned neighbors rushed Diana to the hospital, where medical personnel, unfortunately, couldn’t save her life.
The police, upon their arrival at the hospital, took charge of the situation, initiating necessary procedures, including the retrieval of the victim’s body for a pending autopsy, which revealed the fatal stab wound.
Thankfully, law enforcement managed to recover the weapon from the crime scene, aiding in their ongoing investigation into the incident.
In their pursuit of justice, authorities located the suspect on Sunday, following an intensive manhunt.
As investigations continue, the police are treating the case as a homicide, aiming to piece together the circumstances surrounding Diana’s untimely demise.
In a separate but equally tragic turn of events, two individuals lost their lives in separate road accidents within the vicinity.
These incidents serve as stark reminders of the fragility of life and the need for heightened vigilance in ensuring the safety and well-being of all community members.
