ICT CS Nominee William Kabogo Declares Net Worth Of Sh3 Billion, Set To Become Second Richest CS In Ruto’s Cabinet

ICT Cabinet Secretary nominee, William Kabogo, has revealed that his net worth stands at Sh3 billion.

If approved, he will become the second richest Cabinet Secretary in President William Ruto’s administration, following Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who has a net worth of Sh4 billion.

Kabogo’s vetting is currently taking place at the County Hall, Mini Chambers in Parliament Buildings, with the National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments, chaired by Rt. Hon. Dr. Moses Wetang’ula, overseeing the process.

Kabogo, who previously served as the Governor of Kiambu County, is the second CS nominee to appear before the committee.

He also represented Juja Constituency as a Member of Parliament, where he developed a reputation for his leadership and advocacy for economic development in his region.

During his appearance, Kabogo stated that he holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Punjab University in India, underlining his educational background in business and commerce.

If confirmed as the new ICT and Digital Economy CS, Kabogo emphasized his commitment to addressing issues that affect everyday Kenyans.

One of his key concerns is the practice of Safaricom, the country’s largest mobile network provider, selling expired data to consumers.

Kabogo explained that he had personally experienced the frustration of having unused data expire before he could use it and assured the committee that if appointed, he would take swift action to address this issue.

“As someone who has faced this challenge firsthand, I understand the concerns of ordinary Kenyans.

If given the responsibility, I will ensure that this problem is resolved and that consumers get the value they deserve from their mobile data purchases,” Kabogo said.

Kabogo also expressed his commitment to advancing Kenya’s digital economy, which is seen as a critical area for growth.

He promised to work on policies that would increase digital literacy and make technology accessible to all Kenyans, particularly in rural areas.

His experience as a former governor and MP equips him with a strong understanding of both local governance and national development priorities, which he said would be crucial in his role as ICT CS.

As part of his vision, Kabogo intends to enhance the ICT infrastructure to support Kenya’s growing tech sector and ensure that the country remains competitive in the global digital economy.

He also plans to work closely with stakeholders in the telecommunications sector, technology innovators, and government agencies to streamline the digital transformation agenda across the nation.

Kabogo’s confirmation as ICT CS would mark another significant appointment in Ruto’s Cabinet, where the focus on strengthening Kenya’s digital economy is central to the government’s long-term development plans.
