Man Abducted And Killed Over Alleged Ancestral Land Tussle In Bondo

Police in Bondo, Siaya County are probing the murder of a 40-year-old man over an alleged ancestral land tussle.

Alan Onyango Otiero is reported to have been abducted from his home by five unknown people and later killed in cold blood.

His wife Irene Wino told the police that the five men stormed their home at Atilili village, and robbed her of Sh2,000 and a phone before they took her husband outside questioning him about defrauding an unknown lady living abroad.
They then disappeared with him to an unknown destination.

Otiero was later found dead in a house while both his hands and legs were tied behind him with a rope.

Police said his face was hooded, throat slit and his body appeared burned.

It is suspected that his ex-convict stepbrother was behind the heinous act as there was a family feud over the ancestral land which the deceased was the administrator as the oldest son.

Elsewhere, the chairperson Baringo South Community Focus group Paul Cheserek was Saturday abducted by people disguised as police in an attempt to steal a folder with a petition against the vetting and nomination of the Baringo County Chief Officers.

Cheserek was abducted at Nakuru Law Courts while going to present the petition at 11: 16 am on May 27.

Two men in black suits armed with pistols bundled him in a light blue Subaru Forester and introduced themselves as police officers before they drove off towards Njoro’s general direction via Technology Farm way.

While in the car, they pinned him down and attempted to steal the folder with the petition documents but he managed to raise an alarm and jumped out.

He was rescued by bodaboda riders who rushed him to Nakuru PGH where he was treated and discharged in fair condition.

He later told police he was robbed of Sh13,500.

No arrest or recovery was made but police said they are investigating the case.
