Woman, 40 Killed In Gun Attack On Village In Garbatula, Isiolo


Police are investigating an incident in which a 40-year-old woman was shot and killed in an attack on Kambi Samaki area, Garbatula, Isiolo County.

Police said the gunmen were targeting the local police station prompting a shootout on May 28.

A reinforcement that was sent to the area established the station was intact but found out that one Mohammed Noor Adan aged 63 years had been shot in the stomach.

His house is next to the station, police said.

His wife Pressa Quresha Noor aged 40 years was found lying unconscious with a gunshot wound on her back.

They were rushed to Benane dispensary where the lady was pronounced dead while her husband was referred to Garissa county hospital in stable condition.

The body of the woman was taken to the local mortuary pending autopsy.

Police reported up to 50 bullets were used in the exchange of fire.

The area is among those seen as hotspots for attacks from local gunmen aligned with clans for cattle and other resources.
