In Migori County, the police have caught a person and confiscated a substantial amount of bhang worth one million Kenyan shillings.
This happened in Migori town, which is part of the Suna West Sub County.
The County police commander, Francis Nguli, explained that the bhang was discovered in five sacks, cleverly hidden among sardines.
It appeared that someone was trying to transport it secretly using a vehicle called a Probox.
The police, acting on a tip from an informant, intercepted the vehicle on the Migori-Rongo highway.
When they searched the vehicle, they found the bhang hidden in those sacks.
The person they arrested is a 32-year-old man, and he is currently in police custody.
He is waiting to be taken to court, where he will be charged with the crime of possessing illegal drugs.
The bhang is also being held in police custody and will be shown in court as evidence.
In the meantime, Mr. Nguli has assured everyone that the police are dedicated to fighting against illegal drugs.
He has asked the public to help the police in their efforts.
He praised the people for providing information to the police, saying that battling illegal drugs is something that requires everyone’s involvement.
The police in the sub-county are intensifying their efforts to crack down on illegal drugs and illegal alcohol production.
They are warning those involved in these activities that the law will catch up with them.
