Celestine Onele, a Nigerian hailing from Ebonyi state, has embarked on an ambitious mission to establish a new Guinness World Record for the longest ironing marathon.
His journey commenced on April 22, 2024, at the Real Unique Garden in Abakaliki, marking the start of a remarkable endeavor.
Inspired by the achievements of fellow Nigerian record breakers like Tunde Onakoya and Hilda Baci, Celestine is determined to surpass the existing record set by England’s Garric Standard in 2015, which stands at 100 hours.
Before Standard’s milestone, Australia’s Huston held the record with 80 hours in 2012.
With official approval from Guinness World Records secured, Celestine is meticulously adhering to the stringent guidelines outlined for his record-breaking attempt.
As an electrical engineer from Ezza South Local Government Area, Celestine attributes his drive to his childhood passion for racing and his aspiration to make a global impact.
“If I surpass the current record holder,” Celestine remarked, “I will become the new holder of the longest ironing marathon by an individual in the world.”
