YouTube And YouTube Music Premium Now Accessible In Kenya

YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium have officially launched in Kenya, marking a broader expansion of their services across Africa.

This announcement was made by Google Africa in a post on X on Wednesday, December 6, where they provided details about the available subscription plans.

In the post, Google Africa expressed, “Wassup Kenya? YouTube Music and YouTube Premium are now available in +254. Get it today and enjoy YouTube ad-free.”

For Sh.499 on Android and $4.99 on iOS, individual users can access ad-free viewing, background play, and offline video downloads.

Families have the option of the premium family plan at Sh. 949 on Android and $9.49 on iOS.

YouTube Premium encompasses YouTube Music Premium, offering subscribers access to over 100 million ad-free songs, even when the screen is locked.

Background play is automatically enabled for, YouTube Music, and YouTube Kids.

“With YouTube Premium, background play is on by default for YouTube, YouTube Music, and YouTube Kids.

This means if you’re watching a video on YouTube and you leave the YouTube app, the video will keep playing in the background until you pause it,” explained YouTube.

Subscribers can also download content for offline enjoyment for up to 30 days without an internet connection, and canceling memberships is a straightforward process through the Paid Membership page.

Beyond Kenya, these services have also been introduced in Senegal and Ghana.
