TikTok has unveiled a new initiative to label content generated through artificial intelligence (AI) when uploaded from specific platforms.
The social media giant aims to address the dissemination of misinformation on its platform through these measures.
The announcement was made during an appearance on ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Thursday.
Adam Presser, TikTok’s Head of Operations & Trust and Safety, emphasized the enthusiasm among users and creators for AI’s potential to enhance creativity and audience engagement.
He underscored the importance of distinguishing between factual and fictional content.
Previously, TikTok encouraged users to voluntarily label AI-generated or heavily edited content.
However, the platform now mandates labeling for all AI-generated content featuring realistic imagery, audio, or video.
