A man believed to be a street urchin slipped into the Nairobi River and drowned.
Witnesses said the man was walking on the banks of the river in the Globe Cinema area on Wednesday evening when he slipped into the water.
His body was stuck between two rocks as good Samaritans tried to save him in vain.
Police said he drowned moments later.
A group of divers ventured into the water and removed the body.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy, police said.
A crowd watched as the divers retrieved the body.
Cases of drowning have been on the rise amid calls for caution.
More than 300 people died out of floods that were reported due to heavy rains in the country.
More than 50 others are missing after the rains.
Thousands of people were displaced by the floods.
