Police in Igembe South launched investigations into a suspected murder after a 52-year-old man was found dead along a village road in Karamba area.
The incident was reported on Tuesday and the deceased was identified as Silas Kobia.
Police officers who visited the scene along the Ogoti–Marega road in Gika location found the body lying in a supine position with blood oozing from the mouth.
Authorities said no visible external injuries were observed during the preliminary examination.
Investigators suspect the deceased may have been assaulted elsewhere before collapsing along the road while heading home.
The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to the Nyambene Sub-County Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.
Police said investigations are ongoing to establish the exact cause and circumstances of the death.
And police in Mbeere South are investigating a murder incident in which a 34-year-old man died after being stabbed during an altercation in Kamutwanjiru village.
According to the police, the incident was reported on Tuesday night at around 8.30pm by the wife of the deceased who was identified as Geonisio Gitonga, a resident of the area.
Police said the victim was allegedly stabbed with a knife by a man known to the family.
The injured man was rushed to Kiritiri Medical Hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical attention.
Police said the suspect later surrendered himself at the station and was placed in custody pending further investigations.
Elsewhere, police in Mbeere North are investigating the death of a suspected thief who succumbed to injuries after allegedly being assaulted by members of the public.
According to police, the incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon at around 3.30pm.
The deceased was identified as Chrispin Munene, believed to be about 26 years old and a resident of Kanyuambora area.
Police said the suspect had allegedly been arrested by members of the public over claims of stealing contrary to Section 268 as read with Section 275 of the Penal Code.
He was later escorted to the police station together with the complainant.
An exhibit comprising a gas cylinder and burner valued at about Sh8,000 was reportedly recovered.
Police officers noted that the suspect had visible injuries on the head and back when he arrived at the station.
He was rushed to the Ishiara Level 4 Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body was moved to the hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination as investigations into the incident continue.
Police have repeatedly warned against mob justice, urging members of the public to hand over suspects to law enforcement agencies for due process.
