Former Agriculture Minister Kipruto Kirwa Warns President Ruto Against Direct Engagement With Gen Z on X Platform

Former Agriculture Minister Kipruto Kirwa has cautioned President William Ruto against engaging directly with Gen Zs on the X platform (formerly Twitter) to address national concerns.

Kirwa criticized the move, labeling it a “serious error” given widespread dissatisfaction with the current administration’s performance over the last two years.

In an interview with KTN News, Kirwa suggested that instead of taking a prominent role, the President should allow other government bodies to engage with young people, intervening only when necessary.

He emphasized the importance of government organs connecting effectively with youth before the President steps in.

Kirwa, also the former Vice Chairperson of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), advised Cabinet Secretaries to synchronize their messaging to enhance operational efficiency within their ministries.

He warned against the President relying heavily on advisors at the expense of Cabinet Secretaries, cautioning that this could lead to conflicting information.

The President and his Cabinet plan to host an X Space session to discuss youth grievances on Friday from 2pm to 5pm.

However, this initiative has faced skepticism online, with many Kenyans advocating for a session where the President and his Cabinet are guests rather than hosts.

In response, a parallel X Space has been organized during the same timeframe, urging youth to refrain from participating in the President’s session.
