Oburu Odinga Criticizes Calls For Ruto’s Removal, Warns Against Potential Gachagua Leadership

Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga recently said the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is ready to work together with the Kenya Kwanza government for Kenya’s stability.

He spoke in Kisumu, supporting youth initiatives but criticizing calls to remove President Ruto, which he fears could cause problems in the country.

Oburu is worried that if President William Ruto is removed, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua might take over.

He is concerned about things Gachagua has said before.

Oburu mentioned that parties in Azimio La Umoja can choose not to join the talks.

He also questioned Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s change in supporting the talks, saying ODM will focus on its own interests.

Oburu believes a unity government could fairly represent Kenya and share resources equally, benefiting everyone in the country.

President Ruto recently supported a six-day discussion starting July 15 through the signing of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) (Amendment) Bill, 2024.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga also supported this, saying it’s the best way to deal with Kenya’s current challenges.

“This discussion is the best way to solve our problems,” Odinga said, giving Kenyans a chance to speak up and suggest solutions for lasting peace in the country.

So far, political parties haven’t chosen members for the discussion committee President Ruto mentioned.

It will include people from political groups, religious groups, community organizations, businesses, and young people.

These changes show Kenya’s politics are changing, with leaders trying to find ways to bring the country together despite different opinions and ideas.
