Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Nairobi Region have arrested a suspected drug trafficker and recovered cannabis valued at approximately Sh870,000 in an intelligence-led operation.
The suspect, identified as Caleb Wanyonyi Mukwenyi, also known as “Jay,” was apprehended along Waiyaki Way in Nairobi during a targeted crackdown on narcotics trafficking within the city.
According to the DCI, officers seized 29 kilograms of cannabis believed to have been destined for distribution within Nairobi’s Central Business District and its surrounding areas.
“The operation was based on credible intelligence targeting drug trafficking networks operating within Nairobi,” the DCI said in a statement.
Mukwenyi is currently in custody and undergoing processing ahead of his arraignment in court.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to combating drug-related crimes, stating, “The Directorate of Criminal Investigations remains steadfast in its efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks and protect the public from the harmful effects of narcotic substances.”
