On Wednesday, decomposed human remains were discovered at a sugarcane plantation in Chemelil, Muhoroni sub-county.
The grisly find was made by an agricultural officer from Chemelil Sugar Factory who was working in the factory’s nucleus farm.
While harvesting sugarcane, the officer came across scattered human skeletons among the crops.
Upon receiving the report, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) were dispatched to the scene.
They successfully retrieved several key remains, including a human skull, pelvic bones, and various limbs.
In addition to the skeletal remains, investigators found a collection of assorted items nearby.
These included a brown school skirt, an old blanket, two small cooking pots, and two plates.
A police report revealed that a wallet containing a national ID card with the name Wycliffe Chemiat was also discovered near the remains.

The remains have been transported to Ahero Sub-County Hospital for further examination.
DNA testing will be conducted to confirm the identity of the deceased and to assist in the ongoing investigation.
The discovery has prompted a full-scale investigation as authorities work to piece together the details of this case.
