Ruto’s Administration Restructures Strategic Government Boards

The government has announced sweeping changes across several state agencies as part of an ongoing effort to restructure key parastatals.

Among the most notable changes is the revocation of Odoyo Owidi’s appointment.

Owidi, a prominent supporter of the Kenya Kwanza administration and former ODM member, was dismissed from his role as Non-Executive Chairperson of the Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency.

His position has now been filled by Daniel Omino, appointed for a three-year term by Water and Irrigation CS Eric Muriithi.

The shake-up continued across multiple ministries.

Energy and Petroleum CS Opiyo Wandayi named Martha Nyangwaria and Anne Michura to new board positions within the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority and the Nuclear Power and Energy Agency, respectively.

Meanwhile, Education CS Julius Migosi appointed Eugene Masombo to the Board of Trustees for the President’s Award.

In the Agriculture ministry, CS Mutahi Kagwe tapped Wario Yattani for the board of the Kenya Animal Genetics Resource Centre and renewed the term of George Odhiambo Oballa for the same board.

Over at the Blue Economy docket, CS Hassan Joho appointed Francis Njoroge to the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute.

Information and Communication CS William also made several changes, appointing Leah Manyarkiy, Christopher Matseshe Naicca, and Dominic Salvio Kariuki Wambugu to the board of the ICT Authority while revoking three previous appointments.

Other notable appointments include Jackson Mwenda to the Regional Centre on Groundwater Resources, Addullahi Nur Sheikh to the National Heroes Council by Gender and Culture CS Hanna Cheptumo, and Beatrice Askul Jattani Godana to the National Drought Management Authority under the East African Community ministry.

These changes signal a renewed push by the administration to align leadership within strategic state agencies with its development agenda.
