Kenya is stepping up its diplomatic efforts to support peace and stability in Haiti.
While in Brazil for high-level political consultations, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi made a formal appeal to the Brazilian government for both technical and financial support for the ongoing Kenya-led UN-backed Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) in Haiti.
This mission, now in its second year, has seen Kenya deploy nearly 800 officers in a bid to restore order in the Caribbean nation.
Tragically, the effort has not been without sacrifice two Kenyan officers have lost their lives and several others injured in the line of duty.
Mudavadi has been on an international tour rallying support for the mission.

In Washington D.C., he met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who reaffirmed America’s backing of Kenya’s leadership in Haiti and its broader role in promoting regional stability.
He also made a stop in the Dominican Republic for political consultations before heading to Brazil.
During his visit to Brasília, Mudavadi held talks with Brazil’s Foreign Affairs Minister Amb. Mauro Vieira.
The two leaders signed a Memorandum of Understanding on tourism and explored deeper cooperation in agriculture, trade, health, climate action, and security.
Mudavadi emphasized the need for better equipment and logistics for the officers in Haiti to improve the mission’s success rate.
Kenya’s call for global solidarity underscores its commitment to restoring peace and helping rebuild Haitian livelihoods, showing strong leadership on the international stage.
