Drama As Woman Is Robbed Sh800,000 After Withdrawing From Bank In Bungoma


A woman was robbed of Sh800,000 moments after she had withdrawn the same from a bank in Kimilili, Bungoma County.

The woman runs a chain of Mpesa shops in Naitiri market and had taken a motorcycle from the local Cooperative Bank with the cash when a car that was trailing her with four armed men struck.

She told police that she on June 30 ran out of cash at about 1 pm and took a motorcycle from the shop to Kimilili for the same.

She then withdrew the Sh800,000 for use and tied the same in envelopes before jumping back to the waiting rider.

A car that was trailing her struck at Bondeni area after overtaking the rider on the Maliki-Kitale Road.

Two men armed with a pistol jumped out and at gunpoint demanded the cash.

A brief scuffle ensued which left the woman with an injury in her face, hands and legs as the gang grabbed the cash and jumped back to the car and drove off.

Police were informed of the incident and visited the scene.

This is the latest such incident to happen on people after leaving banks.

At the weekend, a man was trailed and robbed of Sh999,000 moments after he had left a bank in Parklands area, Nairobi.

The man had left the bank on First Avenue in Parklands and drove out with the cash on Saturday June 28 before he was intercepted at a junction by men who wore police uniforms.
