Detectives are investigating an incident in which a six-year-old boy died after a fire broke out at their home in Bukura village, Lurambi Constituency, Kakamega County.
It is alleged that the boy’s mother, who is a trader at Bukura market, had locked him in his room, as she went about her duties.
She would later be informed that a fire erupted in the house and caused her son’s death on Monday night.
The victim’s body was taken to the Kakamega County Referral Hospital mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted, police said.
Police said they are yet to establish the cause of the fire.
Elsewhere, the family of a man whose body was found dumped by the roadside in Kotieno Location, Gem East, Rangwe in Homa Bay County, is demanding justice.
Enosh Otieno’s mother Hellen Anyango said she received the shocking news on September 5, 2025.
A bodaboda rider discovered the body and alerted the family, who later confirmed that it was their relative.
The killers also poured acid on Otieno’s body before abandoning it a few kilometers away.
The family is appealing to security agencies to expedite investigations and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
Rangwe police commander Magdalene Chebet confirmed that the matter had been handed over to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for further inquiries.
