Probe As Briton Dies By Suicide After Shooting Himself In House In Karen, Nairobi


A British national was found dead after he shot himself in the head in a suicide mission in Karen, Nairobi.

Police said Harrison Christopher James, 65 was found in his house on Tuesday October 21, 2025 after he had shot himself using his legally issued shotgun.

His body was found in his rented house in a sitting position.

He had shot himself in the mouth and the bullet exited on top of his head.

Police said there was a pool of blood in the house after the incident.

The guards on duty at the home noticed the incident and called the police.

Police said two suicide notes were recovered from the house explaining the motive. Details of the notes were not revealed.

Nairobi police boss George Seda said the deceased had a foreigner’s Kenyan identity card.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Police statistics show suicide cases are on the rise in a worrying trend.

Most of the victims are men, statistics show.

The World Health Organisation says such cases are attributed to joblessness, death, academic failures or pressures, legal difficulties and financial difficulties.

Other reasons are bullying, previous suicide attempts, history of suicide in a family, alcoholism and substance misuse, depression and bipolar disorder.

The government says efforts are being made to address the menace

Meanwhile, police in Nzambani, Kitui County are investigating an incident where a grade seven pupil drowned in a borehole.
