Kenya Power has notified customers of a planned electricity outage set to affect several areas of Kajiado County on Wednesday, December 24.
In a notice issued on Tuesday, December 23, the utility firm said the interruption is necessary to allow for routine maintenance and network upgrade works.
According to the company, power will be switched off in Kajiado Town and its surroundings from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm. Areas expected to be affected include Saina, Blue Sky, Oloyangalani, Saab Royale, Signs Feeds, Kajiado Referral Hospital, Maasai Polytechnic, Kajiado County Government offices, Sambel, Maasai Mara, Taya Chemicals, Kajiado Town and neighbouring customers.
The announcement comes weeks after Kenya Power revealed changes to how customers apply for new electricity connections. Earlier this month, the company said all new connection applications must now be submitted exclusively through its online self-service platform.

In a statement dated Tuesday, December 2, Kenya Power explained that the shift to digital applications is part of efforts to modernise customer service and speed up processing.
The company noted that individuals and businesses seeking new connections are required to apply through its website, which is accessible on both computers and mobile devices. As a result, paper-based applications at service centres and banking halls will no longer be accepted.
Kenya Power added that beneficiaries of the Last Mile Connectivity Project will instead be assisted directly on site by company officials during project implementation.
According to the utility firm, digitising the application process is expected to cut delays, improve transparency, and make access to electricity more convenient for customers across the country.
