A minor aged one was electrocuted in a tragic incident in Etago, Kisii County.
The one-and-half-year-old baby girl is believed to have crawled and touched an electric coil that was on and near where she was.
Her mother told police she had stepped out of the house and left the minor sleeping and when she came back she found her lying unconscious on the floor.
She had visible wounds in the hands and left palm which were occasioned by the cooking coil.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
And a man was killed in a gold mining site in Macalder, Migori County.
The incident happened after the shaft into the site collapsed on January 15, 2026.
Police said they were called to the scene and informed of the tragedy after it had happened.
The body of Willis Odero, 20 was retrieved after he had been injured in the chest by a falling rock, police and witnesses said.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
This is the latest such incident to happen in the area amid rising deaths at the gold mining sites.
There are calls for the miners to ensure their safety at the sites. This was after it emerged most sites have no protection gear for their miners.
And a man was shot as he tried to smuggle contraband goods through the Kenya-Somalia border.
The border is officially closed but smugglers sneak in tons of goods valued at millions of shillings into and out of the area.
On Thursday, one Abdisa Dasta, 22 was shot and killed in an operation on the Khalalio-Mandera Road in the Bella area.
He is believed to be an Ethiopian, police said.
The man was buried after an autopsy on the body, police said.
Elsewhere in Kadzandani, Mombasa County, a suspect was shot and seriously wounded in a confrontation with police.
Three suspects were arrested in the drama on Thursday morning, police said.
Police said they had confronted a gang in a hideout prompting the confrontation.
The suspect was injured in the chin and rushed to the hospital for attention.
The suspects were wanted for a series of robberies in the area, police said.
