Elderly Man Found Murdered In Ransacked Home In Gatundu North, Kiambu County

Police in Kiambu County launched investigations into the murder of a 70-year-old man whose body was discovered inside his house in Gatundu North Sub-County.

The incident was reported on March 12, 2026 and the victim, identified as Francis Mbugua Munyambu, was found dead inside his house at Nguna Village.

Police visited and processed the scene.

The body of the deceased was found lying on a sofa set inside the house with his legs tied using a manila rope.

Investigators also noted that the victim’s trousers were soiled with mud, while visible physical marks were observed on the neck.

Preliminary findings indicated that the house had been ransacked.

The television and CCTV decoder had been dismounted, and the cables connecting the CCTV cameras had been cut, suggesting the attackers may have attempted to disable surveillance equipment before committing the crime.

Crime scene personnel photographed and documented the scene and collected several exhibits to assist with investigations.

The body was later moved to General Kago Funeral Home for preservation pending a post-mortem examination.

And two suspects were stoned to death in separate incidents in Uasin Gishu and Kisumu Counties.

The first incident happened in the Moiben area, Uasin Gishu where a suspect who had been accused of defilement was stoned to death. The suspect died in the hospital where he had been rushed to.

The victim was admitted in a separate hospital, police said.

In Kondele, Kisumu County, a mob stoned to death a suspect after a failed robbery. The mob also tried to set the body on fire.

The police arrived at the scene and moved the body to the mortuary after the Thursday morning incident.

Cases of mob lynching have been on the rise amid efforts to contain the trend. Police term the cases criminal and want suspects to be surrendered to authorities for processing and possible prosecution.
