Police Investigate Sexual Harassment Claims Against AP Kenya Bureau Boss

Police visited and interrogated four staff members of the Associated Press Kenya Bureau in Nairobi over claims their head had sexually harassed some of them.

A member of staff accused the Bureau Chief of sexually harassing her.

He has denied the claims.

Police from Kilimani police station on Friday visited CVS Plaza, the offices of the bureau for fact finding mission as part of the probe.

They also demanded security footage at the building to back their probe.

The Bureau Chief is accused of allegedly committing acts of harassment between October 2025 and February 2026.

It is alleged he made sexual gestures towards the complainant, made comments towards her, forced contact and unwanted invitations.

Sources within the company said that the complainant filed complaints with the company leadership on four different occasions, however the company ignored then until a mass email was sent, embarrassing the company and forcing them to take action.

Other than sexual harassment accusations, the bureau chief is accused of retaliation, harassment, bullying and Gender Discrimination where he told the complainant during a job interview process that he will not
hire her as she is a woman, adding that he doesn’t want women working for him, that he wants a “donkey”

However, the complainant has allegedly accused the company of attempting to protect the boss by inviting him to a leadership training in New York in May, 2026 instead of taking action on the serious accusations.

According to sources within the company, this is not the first time complaints have risen over the conduct of the Bureau Chief who has been in Kenya with the media company for 30 years.

Freelancers have over the years raised complaints over the bureau chief conduct with the company ignoring the complaints and taking the accused for leadership trainings.

The accused person did not want to comment on the allegations. He said the matter is under probe.

Police at Kilimani said they are investigating the claims and will take necessary action.
