A message of reflection and resilience has been issued to Kenyans, highlighting the country’s long and often painful journey toward justice, freedom, and democratic governance.
In the statement, former Attorney General Justin Muturi pointed to Kenya’s historical struggles—from the brutal repression during the colonial period to post-independence challenges—as evidence of the nation’s enduring spirit.
He referenced key periods in the country’s history, including the fight for independence, the era of single-party rule, and episodes of political and ethnic violence, noting that these moments, though painful, have shaped Kenya’s collective identity.
Muturi also alluded to recent unrest driven by young people, describing it as a turning point that has captured both national and global attention, while underscoring the continuing demand for justice, accountability, and democratic space.

“It is always darkest before dawn,” he said, expressing confidence that Kenya will overcome its current challenges through unity and collective resolve.
