Leadership Shake-Up at Kenya Civil Aviation Authority as Emile Arao Exits

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) announced a leadership transition following the end of tenure of its Director General, Emile Arao.

In a statement, the Authority said Arao’s contract expired on April 22, 2026, marking the conclusion of his term in office. The Board of Directors commended him for his service and contribution during his tenure.

To ensure continuity, the Board, in consultation with the parent ministry, has appointed Nicholas Bodo as Acting Director General. He will steer the Authority as it initiates the process of recruiting a substantive holder of the position.

“The recruitment will be conducted through an open, transparent, and competitive process in line with established governance procedures,” the Board said.

KCAA assured stakeholders that operations will continue uninterrupted during the transition, reiterating its commitment to maintaining safe, secure, and efficient civil aviation services in the country.

The announcement was made by Board Chairman Brown Ondego.

Insiders said Arao had been under rating the board members who decided not to renew his term.
