Man Dies After Falling From Building In Meru While Leaving Club


Police in Meru County are investigating the death of a man who succumbed to injuries after falling from a multi-storey commercial building in Muthara Town.

According to police, the incident was reported on Saturday by the manager of Grand Arcade Business Hub.

The victim was rushed to Muthara Sub-County Hospital with severe head and pelvic injuries but died while undergoing treatment.

Police identified the deceased as Pius Muteithia, a resident of Nchui Village in Kitharene Sub-location.

Preliminary investigations, including a review of CCTV footage, indicate that at about 3:00 a.m., the deceased was leaving Havana Club when he climbed onto the staircase guard rails before falling to the ground below.

Officers from the National Police Service visited and documented the scene.

The body was later transferred to St. John of God Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal fall are ongoing.

Elsewhere, police in Kakamega County are investigating the murder of a 63-year-old man who allegedly died after being assaulted by members of his own family before an angry mob turned on the suspects.
The incident was reported on Saturday.

At the scene, police officers found the body of Milton Osuka Onyimbo lying outside his house.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a family dispute erupted at around noon, during which the deceased was allegedly beaten by his wife and three sons. He later succumbed to the injuries sustained during the assault.

Following the incident, members of the public reportedly attacked the four suspects in an act of mob justice. Police intervened and rescued them before taking them to Khwisero Level IV Hospital, where they are receiving treatment under police guard. Their condition was reported to be serious.

Crime scene investigators processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to Sonak Community Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

And police in Nandi County are investigating the death of a 21-year-old man who succumbed to injuries three days after he was allegedly assaulted and his house set ablaze by a neighbour.

According to police, the incident began on June 17 at about 4:30 p.m., when the deceased, identified as Dennis Kipkosgei, was allegedly assaulted by a neighbour identified as Elias Korir.

The suspect is also accused of torching the victim’s house during the incident.

Following the attack, Dennis fled to his grandmother’s home in Burnt Forest, where he arrived in the early hours of June 18. Upon arrival, he complained of chest pains and was found to have a bruise above his left eyebrow and swollen ankles. He was examined by a physician the same day and was reported to be in fair condition.

However, at about 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, his condition reportedly deteriorated. He began vomiting blood and was rushed to Burnt Forest Sub-County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival at 4:11 a.m.

The body was transferred to Samaritan Farewell Home in Kapsabet, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.

Police have launched investigations into the alleged assault and arson, with the findings of the autopsy expected to guide further action.
