Two people were separately killed by falling trees in Migori and Meru Counties.
Police said the first incident happened after a 55-year-old woman died after a tree being felled for timber fell on her in Kuria East Sub-County, Migori County.
According to police, the incident occurred at about 5 p.m. on Monday in Gibarori Village.
Investigators established that a man aged 27, was cutting down a tree using a power saw when it unexpectedly fell on Mary John, who had been hired to ferry already-cut timber.
The woman sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Kehancha Sub-county Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police officers visited the scene, photographed and documented it, and recovered the power saw used in the operation as an exhibit.
The suspect fled immediately after the incident and remains at large. Police have launched a manhunt for him.
The body of the deceased was moved to Kehancha Sub-county Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination as investigations continue.
Elsewhere, a 54-year-old man died after he was struck by a falling blue gum tree while assisting in a tree-felling operation in Meru County.
According to police, the incident occurred on Monday afternoon in Kiengu Sub-County after Patrick Marira was called to help pull a rope used to control the direction of a falling tree.
Police said the blue gum tree accidentally fell onto him, causing severe injuries, including fractures to both thighs after the trunk struck his lower body.
Members of the public who were present attempted to rescue him, but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Police officers visited and documented the scene before moving the body to Nyambene District Level IV Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Detectives have launched investigations into the fatal workplace incident.
