Police in Nyeri County launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 35-year-old man whose body was found by the roadside in Kieni East Sub-County.
According to police, the incident was reported at around 8:05 a.m. on Monday after a male adult was spotted lying motionless opposite the Affordable Housing Project in Huho-ini Village, Thung’ari Sub-location, Lusoi Location.
Police visited the scene and identified the deceased as Peter Maina, also known as “King’ang’a.”
Police said the body was found lying on its back beside the road with severe head injuries to the back of the head and forehead. A pool of blood was also found beneath the victim’s head, indicating he may have been fatally assaulted at the scene.
Preliminary investigations suggest the man was murdered during the night of June 28–29, although the exact time of the attack remains unknown.
Crime scene investigators from Nyeri documented and processed the scene before the body was transferred to Narumoru Level IV Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing are ongoing.
And police in Kiambu County are investigating the death of a man who was found unresponsive in his house in Kiambaa Sub-County.
According to police, the incident was reported at around 10:40 a.m. on Monday after relatives visited the home of Stephen Kamau Kihara to take him for further treatment at Kiambu Hospital.
His siblings found him lying unresponsive on his bed and alerted the authorities.
Police visited the scene and established that the deceased had a history of tuberculosis and had been receiving treatment at Kihara Level IV Hospital.
Officers said no visible physical injuries were found on the body.
Crime scene investigators processed the scene before the body was moved to Kihara Level IV Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.
