Man Found Dead In Sugarcane Plantation In Muhoroni, Kisumu County


Police in Muhoroni Sub-County, Kisumu County, launched investigations after the body of a man who had been missing for several days was discovered in a sugarcane plantation.

The body was found on Wednesday by a person transporting sugarcane from one of the Simba Farm blocks. The individual became concerned after noticing a foul smell and traced it to a human body concealed in the area.

The deceased was identified as Albert Kabala Mununa, also known as “JB”, who had been reported missing since 27 June 2026.

A preliminary examination revealed injuries to the forehead, back, buttocks and hands, believed to have been inflicted with a blunt object, prompting police to treat the case as a suspected murder.

The scene was processed before the body was moved to Othoo Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify those responsible.

Meanwhile, police in Kakamega South Sub-county are investigating a murder case after a 62-year-old man died days after he was allegedly assaulted during a domestic dispute.

According to police, the incident was reported on Wednesday by a family member who stated that his brother, Ernest Ingosi, had been involved in a quarrel with his wife, on the night of 29 June 2026.

During the altercation, the deceased was allegedly struck on the head with a blunt object by his wife, leaving him bleeding on the ground.

His sons rushed him to Shibwe Sub-County Hospital, where he received treatment and was discharged the following morning.

However, the victim later complained of severe stomach pain and was referred to Kakamega County Referral Hospital for further treatment.

He died at the hospital on Wednesday morning at around 9:30 a.m.

The body was preserved at Kakamega County Referral Hospital Mortuary pending a post-mortem examination as detectives work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death.
