Police in Sotik, Bomet County, have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a middle-aged man whose body was found lying unresponsive at Bomet Stage on Wednesday morning.
The incident was reported at about 10:09 a.m.after members of the public alerted authorities about an unresponsive man at the stage.
Preliminary investigations established that the victim had sustained a cut wound to the forehead, believed to have been inflicted with a blunt object, raising suspicion of murder.
The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to Kapkatet Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death. Police have commenced investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those responsible.
And police have launched investigations into the murder of a 32-year-old man following a fight at a bar in Buuri West Sub-County, Meru County.
The incident occurred at about 10.30 p.m. on Sunday at Stockman Bar in Sirmon Market, about 12 kilometres southeast of Timau Police Station.
According to police, Brian Muthethia was involved in a disagreement with another man while at the bar owned by Glory Ngugi.
The disagreement reportedly escalated into a violent fight during which Muthethia sustained fatal injuries.
Responding police officers found his body lying on its back in a pool of blood. He had suffered a deep cut on the left side of the neck and another serious injury at the back of the head.
The suspected murder weapon was not recovered at the scene.
Crime scene investigators processed and documented the area before the body was moved to the Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect as investigations into the killing continue.
Elsewhere, police recovered the body of a 36-year-old man who had been reported missing several days earlier in Kakamega County.
According to police, the partially decomposed body was spotted floating in River Yala near Iguhu Bridge in Ivonda Sub-location at about 4:00 p.m. on June 30, 2026.
Police visited the scene and retrieved the body, which was identified as that of Douglas Machisu Malimu
Police said the deceased had been reported missing from his home on June 26, 2026, at Savane Police Station.
His body was positively identified by his father, who told investigators that his son had a history of mental health challenges. Preliminary examination revealed no visible physical injuries on the body.
The body was moved to the Kakamega County Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the cause of death.
Police are continuing with investigations into the incident.
