Airtel Money and Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening digital payment solutions for small businesses across Kenya.
Under the new arrangement, Airtel Money users can now pay DTB Till Moja merchants directly and deposit money into DTB accounts using their mobile phones, removing the need for physical visits to bank branches or payment outlets.
In a joint statement issued on December 4, 2025, the two companies said the collaboration is intended to widen financial access and support the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through faster, simpler and more secure transaction options.
Customers making Paybill payments to DTB Till Moja merchants via Airtel Money will also enjoy a guaranteed 50 percent cashback in airtime, making daily transactions more affordable.
Airtel Money Kenya Managing Director Anne Kinuthia-Otieno said the partnership builds on existing capabilities by extending mobile payment convenience from DTB accounts to DTB merchants as well. She added that the move is designed to create more value for customers while supporting small businesses.

The initiative is also targeting underserved regions where access to conventional banking services remains limited, with the broader aim of accelerating the adoption of digital financial services nationwide.
Customers can deposit funds into any DTB account or pay Till Moja merchants through the Airtel Money app or by dialling *334#.
DTB’s Director of Retail Banking, George Otiende, said the partnership expands payment choices for customers and removes barriers to accessing banking services, particularly for SMEs and individuals who depend on mobile money for everyday transactions.
Airtel Money Kenya operates as a standalone entity following its separation from Airtel Networks Kenya in 2022 and is licensed by both the Communications Authority of Kenya and the Central Bank of Kenya as a Payment Service Provider. It is fully owned by Airtel Africa PLC.
Diamond Trust Bank is a tier-one commercial lender with operations in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Burundi. The bank is affiliated with the Aga Khan Development Network and is listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange, with a history spanning nearly eight decades.
