Autopsy; Bomet University Student Was Strangled

A university student whose body was found in a river in Bomet was strangled.

An autopsy on the body of Maryanne Wangari, 22 who was a student at Bomet University shows was strangled and dumped into Nyangores River on the outskirts of Bomet where it was discovered.

Longisa Referral Hospital’s Medical Superintendent Dr. Weldon Kirui led the postmortem exercise at the facility.

The body of the fourth-year communications student was found floating in Nyangores River on the outskirts of Bomet town on Monday, April 11 after she went missing on Tuesday last week.

Police say they are talking to five fellow students who were with her last.

Bomet Central police boss Bashir Ali said the students include four male and a lady.

Police said she was officially reported missing on April 4, 2023.

Police say they are tracing her last moments before she died as part of the probe into the incident.

The motive of the murder is yet to be known but investigations are ongoing.
