Authorities in Eldoret are investigating the tragic death of Rodney Kili, the son of prominent large-scale farmer George Kili, who was killed in an accident involving a planter on their family farm.
Uasin Gishu County police commander Benjamin Mwanthi confirmed that they have initiated an investigation into the incident.
George Kili is a well-known figure in the region, recognized as one of the leading maize and wheat producers in the Rift Valley, managing over 5,000 acres of highly mechanized farmland.
According to reports, Rodney was calibrating a moving planter when he lost his footing and fell beneath the machinery.
Mwanthi stated, “It was reported that the machine crushed him, leading to fatal injuries.”
The family is in mourning following the unexpected loss of their son, remembered as a driven and innovative farmer dedicated to adopting modern agricultural practices at Komool Farm and Buffalo Millers, both owned by the Kili family.
Following the incident, police transported Rodney’s body to a morgue in Eldoret for further examination.
