A 25-year-old businessman was on Monday night shot dead in a robbery incident at Kamasimo village in Kurutyange sub-location, Migori County.
Police said the unknown killers also stole an unknown amount of money and gold from the deceased.
Kuria West sub-county Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo said the businessman succumbed to gunshot wounds at the Kuria West sub-county hospital while undergoing treatment.
He said the deceased had injuries suspected to have been inflicted by some other crude weapons.
Police who were on patrol around the scene of the murder on the said night responded swiftly when they heard gunshots, but the robbers had already fled by the time they arrived at the scene of the crime.
The officers recovered spent cartridges at the scene and are being analyzed.
The body was moved to a local mortuary pending autopsy and further probe.
