The Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin has pledged to continue working together with all stakeholders in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.
Amin said that terrorism continues to threaten international peace, stability and development, calling for more collaboration between government security agencies, state and none state actors in the fight against the vice.
Speaking at a workshop in Mombasa, on Saturday, Amin acknowledged the gains made so far through the multi agency security framework and committed to support efforts by the government and all other stakeholders involved in the sustained anti terror war.
“We will stay focused on the threat to the end,” he said.
Terrorism and violent extremism remain a major challenge in the country as it continues to disrupt many lives.
Tens of Kenyans have died out of terror incidents in the past years.
Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji attended the event to launch HAKI Africa publication of Good Practices for Enhancing Access to Justice in Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism.
He called for strengthening inter/intra-agency collaboration/ cooperation to tackle the scourge.
“Organized criminal syndicates and terrorist organizations continue to evolve and exploit technology and digital evolution. The success of this project is an example of the gains made through our adoption of a “whole-of-society approach” in our cooperation with CSOs,” he said.
He also called on the criminal justice sector actors to be sensitive to the needs of society and the citizens they have been called to serve.
He urged them to adopt a human-rights-centric approach and to combat terrorism and counter violent extremism within the rule of law.
