Detectives are investigating the death of Elizabeth Githingi, a preacher found dead at the home of Kikuyu gospel musician Mirugi Dishon.

According to the statement recorded at Kiamumbi police station, Githingi paid him a visit at his Kahawa West home on Saturday.

Mirugi stated that she had brought his suit from Nakuru but that when she arrived at his house, she decided to clean both his house and his clothes because they were filthy.

He said he left the house to run errands on Thika Road while she was cleaning.

According to the statement, he returned home soon after because he couldn’t reach Elizabeth on her phone.

Murugi said he discovered Githingi in a wardrobe who had hanged herself with a bedsheet after returning.

He told the police that he untied the body and transferred it to his car before driving to the Jacaranda Maternity Home.

The police said medics at Jacaranda medics refused to take the body because she was already dead.

He then drove to the Kiamumbi police station with the body still in his car, but officers told him to report the incident to Kahawa West.

At Kahawa West police declined to take the body as he was advised to report the matter to Kasarani police station.

Kasarani police refused to take the body on the claim that he could have reported the incident immediately.

They allowed him to move the body to Kenyatta University Mortuary on Saturday evening.

He was accompanied by DCI homicide detectives as he recorded the statement the same day who took over the investigation.
