The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Friday said they have completed the first phase of the probe into the mysterious death of Jeff Mwathi.
“The process included the interviewing of the first cluster of witnesses in the case, forensic examination of the scene, and retrieval of CCTV footage that captured the deceased’s last moments,” the investigative agency said in a statement.
DCI said crucial evidence in the case has been collected by forensic experts for examination.
The second phase, which will be the last one, will entail the interrogation of several persons of interest and thereafter submitting recommendations to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
“We are in the meantime requesting the public to be patient as we endeavor to establish the circumstances surrounding Jeff’s untimely death,” the investigative agency assured.
The homicide took over from the Kasarani police station officers under the directive of Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki.
On Friday, March 10, homicide sleuths visited Redwoods as part of the probe.
