Decomposing Body Of Missing Man Found At Kisumu Home


Police in Nyando Sub-county, Kisumu County, have launched investigations after the decomposing body of a man was discovered at a residence in Awasi.

The incident was reported on Thursday, July 2, 2026. The body, suspected to be that of Collins Sakwa, was found at the compound of Gabriel Omondi in the Tower Area, Border I Sub-location.

Police established that the homeowner, who lives in Nairobi, had been unable to reach Collins since Monday and asked a relative to check on him.

When the relative arrived, he called out Collins’ name but received no response.

He then scaled the perimeter wall to gain access to the compound, where he found Collins’ naked body in an advanced state of decomposition. He immediately reported the discovery to Awasi Police Station.

Police officers processed the scene before transferring the body to Ahero County Hospital Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a post-mortem examination.

Investigations are underway to establish the cause and circumstances of the man’s death.

Elsewhere, police have launched investigations after the body of an unidentified middle-aged man was discovered near a bridge along Lang’ata Link Road in Nairobi.

The incident was reported on Thursday, July 2, 2026, after members of the public raised concerns that a man had been lying near the bridge by the Affordable Housing project throughout the day.

Police officers from Lang’ata Police Station responded to the scene and found the lifeless body of an unidentified African male lying face down, with his legs inside a sack.

Police noted that the body had no visible external injuries.

Scenes of Crime personnel processed the scene before the body was moved to the Nairobi Funeral Home for preservation and a post-mortem examination.

Police are working to establish the man’s identity and determine the cause and circumstances of his death.
