DPP Ingonga Wins Digital Leadership Award As ODPP Bags Three Honours For Technology And Innovation

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Renson Ingonga was recognised for his leadership in digital transformation, emerging second in the CEO/Director General of the Year – Digital Transformation Leadership category at the Digital Transformation Public Sector Forum and Awards 2026 in Mombasa.

The recognition was among three awards secured by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), highlighting the Office’s growing use of technology to enhance efficiency and strengthen the management of criminal prosecutions.

Head of ICT Nahashon Gitahi emerged second in the CTO/CIO/Head of ICT of the Year – Technology Leadership category, while ODPP emerged third in the State Department/Independent Agency of the Year – Digital Innovation category.

The third award recognised Uadilifu, ODPP’s electronic Case Management System, which has transformed the way the Office records, manages and tracks criminal cases throughout the prosecution process.

The system provides prosecutors with timely access to case information, facilitates monitoring of cases and supports more efficient management of prosecutions.

For an institution that handles thousands of criminal cases across the country, Uadilifu provides a centralised platform that helps prosecutors follow the progress of cases, monitor key developments and make informed decisions based on accessible case information.

The DPP said the system has improved efficiency and strengthened the Office’s capacity to manage complex prosecutions, including some of the country’s most challenging cases.

“Uadilifu has significantly improved the efficiency with which we manage and prosecute criminal cases. It has enabled us to have better visibility of cases, access critical information when needed and strengthen our coordination in complex prosecutions. This has been particularly valuable in some of the challenging cases we have handled, including the Shakahola massacre case,” said the DPP.

The awards were received by Chief of Staff Irene Maina, and ICT Advisor to the DPP Sam Wetungu.

The event was attended by Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication and the Digital Economy, Hon. William Kabogo; PS for ICT and Digital Economy John Tanui, PS, State Department for Immigration and Citizen Services, Dr. Belio Kipsang, PS, State Department of Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Stephen Isaboke and Secretary, ICT, E-Government and Digital Economy, Mary Kerema.
