Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) investigators apprehended a Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) official accused of soliciting a bribe from a victim of M-Pesa fraudsters.
Luke Nyasangah, stationed at Ngano Police Station in Nyandarua County, was caught in the act, allegedly demanding a Ksh.10,000 bribe to assist the victim.
According to reports, the victim, who had fallen prey to M-Pesa fraud, lost Ksh.115,000. When the victim sought help from Nyasangah, the DCI officer purportedly insisted on the bribe to initiate efforts to recover the stolen funds.
Acting on a tip-off, EACC operatives set up a sting operation, apprehending Nyasangah in the act of soliciting the bribe to advance the investigation.

Nyasangah justified the demand by stating that the bribe was necessary to expedite the process of tracking down the fraudsters.
Following the arrest, Nyasangah was taken into custody at Charagita Police Post for further legal procedures.
This incident underscores the ongoing endeavors of the ethics commission to combat corruption within the country, particularly among individuals in positions of authority such as law enforcement officials.
