A few weeks after holding a big meeting with unemployed graduates in Kenya, comedian-turned-activist Eric Omondi has opened an office to help those graduates find employment.
Through his Instagram page, Omondi posted a video in front of the office buildings that he launched early Monday morning.
He said that the offices will be used as a place for any employed people who are looking for work to send their applications and list the criteria they wants for the work they are looking for.
Then the office would analyze hundreds of certificates of unemployed graduates that were being sent there as well as job-seeking graduates, then connect them with their potential employers.
The offices had a logo of a graduate’s hand and the color blue, Omondi saying that it was due to the Sisi Kwa Sisi movement.
“A few weeks ago, I met a large number of unemployed graduates, and they were about 5 thousand. And I promised them jobs, and today I am here to launch a union of unemployed graduates and entrepreneurs in Kenya.”
“And today I am making a request to Kenyans who have the heart to help, I am asking them to help our brothers and sisters, we are the guardians of our brothers. People have certificates but are not employed because they probably don’t know or don’t have someone to help them. And I believe if we connect employers to employees, we will help many families and make it possible for children to go to school and also put food on their table,” Omondi said.
He showed the buildings to the reception area where he said the employers will be sending their applications for finding employees.
Two weeks ago, Omondi announced the holding of a meeting at a restaurant on Thika Road to include all unemployed graduates.
After the meeting, Omondi said that he was surprised to see a large number of young people with many certificates in their hands and pennies in their pockets.
He said that he promised to find them a job to the best of his ability, and two weeks later, he launched the KAUGE office to help connect them with potential employers.
