A tragic incident unfolded in Mwihoko, Githurai subcounty, Kiambu, where a 45-year-old man allegedly stabbed his 16-year-old daughter to death during a domestic dispute.
The father also inflicted serious injuries on his wife, who is currently receiving treatment at Ruiru Subcounty Hospital and is reported to be in serious but stable condition.
According to police reports, the man’s landlord alerted authorities after witnessing the violent altercation.
It is said that following an argument with his wife, the suspect initially left home but later returned to confront the family.
When his 45-year-old wife opened the door, he forcibly took their three-year-old son and attempted to leave.
In the ensuing chaos, he attacked his wife with a kitchen knife, stabbing her in the head, before turning on their daughter, who was pleading for help, and inflicting a fatal stab wound to her back.
The assailant fled the scene, leaving behind the murder weapon and his unharmed son.
Neighbors quickly transported the victims to Ruiru Subcounty Hospital, where the daughter was pronounced dead upon arrival, while the mother remains hospitalized.
Police responded to the scene, which is located about one kilometer from their station, and recovered a blood-stained knife believed to be the instrument of the crime.
Upon visiting Ruiru Subcounty Hospital, officers found the girl’s body with a stab wound to the back while her mother was being treated for her injuries.
The body of the deceased has been processed and moved to Thika Level Five Hospital morgue, pending an autopsy.
This shocking event occurs just a week after another alarming case in Kamandura village, Limuru, where a man killed his estranged wife before taking his own life.
The gruesome discovery of the victim’s body, found in a cornfield, was reported to the police by a village elder.
