Form One Student Collapses And Dies After Exercise In School In Kajiado


Police are investigating an incident in which one student collapsed and died after he and other students had jogged around the institution blocks in Isinya, Kajiado.

The incident happened at Merishaw Secondary on June 12, police said.

Police said the 14-year-old form one student and four others were instructed by their teacher to run around a block as a form of punishment.

And after the exercise, he sat on the ground and developed difficulty in breathing.

The school clinical officer arrived and administered some first aid in vain.

He was rushed to Favour medical services hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

A post-mortem is planned on the body to establish the cause of the incident.

Elsewhere in the Kasarani area, a mechanic collapsed and died as he painted a car.

Nicholas Odhiambo Aboka, was g panel-beating a trailer while standing on some crates, and after a while, he collapsed.

He was rushed to Uhai Neema Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The body was removed to the hospital mortuary waiting for postmortem.
