Former Minister of Public Service Moses Kuria has opened up about the criticism and personal attacks he faced following his dismissal from the cabinet last month.
In an interview with Citizen TV, Kuria revealed that he has encountered significant hostility from both the public and the media since losing his ministerial position.
He recounted a particularly unsettling incident where someone suggested he apply for a job as a morgue attendant.
“Someone texted me offering a job in a morgue, asking, ‘Hey, come over.
Seriously, there’s work here.
What do you think? Will you take the money?'” Kuria said.
He described the message as harsh and threatening, acknowledging that dealing with such attacks can be emotionally challenging.
During the interview, Kuria also shared his plans for the future following his removal from the Cabinet by President William Ruto.
He reflected on his tenure as a minister, expressing a desire to return to a more private life.
Kuria stated that this interview would be his last public appearance as he transitions back to a private life.
Despite this, he plans to continue advocating for constitutional reforms.
“I consider this interview to be my exit interview,” Kuria declared.
“Even in my personal life, I will focus on supporting the amendment of the Constitution.”
Kuria, who was involved in drafting the 2010 Constitution of Kenya, criticized some of its provisions.
He suggested that certain independent commissions and counties be reformed or removed due to their economic inefficiencies.
“We included various elements in the constitution because we were emerging from a period of great turmoil.
Many provisions were made to address specific needs at the time, but now some of these elements, like independent commissions and counties, seem redundant and costly,” Kuria explained.
“We need to reassess these structures and consider whether they serve their intended purpose or are merely symbolic.”
Following his departure from the Cabinet, Kuria has been vocal about his push for constitutional amendments to address these issues.
