At least four people died Saturday after a boat they were in capsized at Watamu, Kilifi county.
Among the deceased was a five-year-old girl.
Officials said the boat lost control after being hit by strong waves before capsizing in the Indian Ocean.
The boat was ferrying fifteen foreign tourists and other Kenyan tourists who had gone for a dolphin watch expedition at the
Watamu Marine National Park when the incident happened.
Police said 26 people were rescued and are in stable condition.
The boat was carrying 29 people, 15 of whom were foreigners from Italy and it overturned at the Watamu Marine National Park and Reserve, which is a common tourist destination.
Malindi deputy police commander Solomon Odero said those rescued were hospitalized in stable condition. Some were later discharged.
