Government spokesman Issac Mwaura addressing farmers on strategies of fake fertilizer scandal


Government spokesman Issac Mwaura has defended the department of agriculture over the allegations of fake fertilizer in the country.

 

In his statement released today 4, th April, Mwaura explained in detail about the issue of fake fertilizer while warning the cattle’s who are continuing with the crime of the supplier that brings loses to the farmers in the country.

This is happening after some farmers in the country raised complain a few weeks in the country about being sold fake fertilizer from NCPB.

Mwaura note that the  trade department, government officials, National Environment Management Authority {NEEMA},Kenya Bureau of standards {KEBS} and  the Directorate of criminal Investigations {DCI} are  among the departments that has been  questioned by the senate on the distribution of fake fertilizer in the country.

He added by telling farmers not to worry, because it might be humorous, and assured them that the government is strong to ensure that all farmers get the right fertilizer while saying that so far the board has received 2.3 million bags of fertilizers and farmers have redeemed 2.1 million bags of fertilizer.

Mwaura said that investigations are ongoing over the allegations of fake fertilizers to determine if the fertilizer was fake, and ensures that the suspects will be prosecuted.
