Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has exciting news for job seekers: some lucky Kenyans will soon be flying abroad for work before Christmas.
The announcement comes as part of the National Job Recruitment Program, which has successfully secured over 1,000 job opportunities for Kenyan citizens in countries like Australia, Qatar, Poland, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Germany.
Mutua revealed that recruitment drives in counties such as Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui have already been successful, and now it’s Nakuru’s turn.
The recruitment drive will take place on Monday, November 25, at the Rift Valley National Polytechnic from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with more drives scheduled in Nyandarua and Baringo in the coming days.
“We are thrilled to offer these incredible opportunities for Nakuru residents,” said Mutua.
“Successful candidates may be flying out before Christmas and starting their new roles immediately.”
Applicants are required to bring essential documents including their National ID, academic certificates, CV, and passport.
For those without a passport, the government promises swift assistance to ensure they’re ready for travel if selected.
This initiative aligns with President William Ruto’s vision to broaden job opportunities both locally and internationally, aiming to improve livelihoods and boost sustainable economic growth in Kenya.
The program, which began on November 20, 2024, aims to cover all 47 counties, following the successful recruitment of 3,247 Kenyans for jobs in Qatar.
Mutua also noted that nearly 1,500 individuals have already received offer letters, with departures scheduled in the coming weeks.
With more job opportunities lined up, the government is paving the way for Kenyans to start new careers abroad and potentially change their lives before the holiday season.
