Guard Dies After Slipping From Avocado Tree In Parklands, Nairobi


An attempt by a security guard to harvest avocado fruits from a tree turned tragic when he slipped and fell off dying in Parklands, Nairobi.

Denis Kunyu, 35 had climbed an avocado tree within a compound where he was guarding on Tuesday when the incident happened, police said.

Police said the incident happened at 999 Apartments along 3rd Parklands Avenue.

Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said Kunyu accidentally slipped and fell on a perimeter wall and died on the spot.

This is after he landed on his head.

His head had injuries when police arrived and picked up the body at the mortuary pending autopsy.

Elsewhere in Eastleigh, Nairobi, a casual laborer died after he fell off the third floor of a building.

Julius Wekesa Maina was on duty with other workers at a building under construction when he slipped off the third floor and fell to the ground floor.

He died on the spot after the fall from Alpha Top Plaza along 12th Street.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and probe.

In Kericho, one Abraham Too drowned as he crossed the Magut River.

The deceased was taking care of the family cattle when the incident happened on Wednesday.

Police were called to the scene and removed the body to the mortuary.

Elsewhere in Nyamira North, the body of one George Ooma was found on a roadside with deep cuts.

Police are investigating the incident.
