On Saturday, August 17, 2014, Mrs. Mary Wanjiku Njoroge endured a devastating loss when her 16-year-old son, Samuel Kamau, went missing during a church youth seminar.
Samuel, accompanied by his older sister Grace Gathoni, left their Kitengela home at 1:30 a.m. that day.
They were headed to the Kenya Assemblies of God (KAG) Church, Kitengela New Valley Road branch, where they planned to join other attendees for a group departure to the KAG seminar at the Athi River branch in Machakos County.
Tragically, just 30 minutes after their arrival at the church, Samuel vanished without a trace.
The family was visibly distraught when Taifa Leo Media visited their home in Kitengela Sixers on Saturday to learn more about the situation.
Grace Gathoni, 20, described their journey, revealing that Samuel had been preoccupied with his phone while they walked the three kilometers to the church.
Upon arriving, they waited in a small yard for their group to gather before heading to Athi River.
Around 2:30 a.m., Grace stepped away briefly to use a nearby toilet. When she returned, Samuel was missing, though his phone was left behind.
“I was shocked and alarmed to find him gone from where I had left him. I started searching for him immediately, but he was nowhere to be found.
Someone reported seeing him leaving through the church gate before he disappeared,” Grace said, her voice trembling with emotion.
Mrs. Njoroge and Grace have been left in profound anguish as they grapple with the sudden and unexplained disappearance of Samuel.
The family remains hopeful for any leads or information that might help in locating him.
