The Government of Homa Bay County has outlined four main areas for investment as they kick off their international investment conference.
Homa Bay Governor, Gladys Wanga, along with County Commissioner Moses Lilan, spearheaded the preparations for the conference, ensuring top-notch security and hospitality for all attendees.
Wanga emphasized that the conference aims to bring together both local and foreign investors to explore the various investment prospects available within Homa Bay County.
She highlighted that a diverse range of investment opportunities will be showcased during the conference, with investors from countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union expected to attend.
Wanga identified the county’s top investment priorities as the production of edible oil crops (such as oil palm, sunflower, and peanuts), cotton production, aquaculture, and tourism.
While acknowledging other investment avenues, Wanga stressed the importance of focusing on these four sectors to maximize resource utilization.
“We have singled out these four sectors as our primary investment focus. However, there are additional investment opportunities within the county for interested investors,” said Wanga.
The Governor assured that these investment opportunities would not only benefit investors but also the residents, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development to support large-scale edible oil production.
Reviving cotton production is expected to bolster wealth creation in the county, leveraging its favorable land conditions.
Furthermore, investments in the blue economy, particularly in Lake Victoria and other water bodies within the county, are poised to generate significant wealth, with Wanga highlighting Lake Victoria’s role as a major fish producer in Kenya.
The county’s tourism potential, including attractions like Ruma National Park, Rusinga Island, Lake Simbi Nyaima, and Gor Mahia Shrine, presents additional investment prospects.
Wanga encouraged investors to seize the opportunities available in Homa Bay, underscoring the county’s strategic location, favorable agricultural conditions, and growing population.
In ensuring the safety of all participants, Lilan assured investors and locals of heightened security measures during and after the conference, emphasizing the importance of making guests feel welcome and at home.
“Security has been intensified.
Let our guests feel at ease as they participate in this significant conference,” said Lilan.
